Pokémon Snap (ポケモンスナップ Pokemon Sunappu?) is a first-person rail shooter and simulation video game developed by HAL Laboratory with Pax Softnica and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64 video game console. It is part of the Pokémon series, and one of the first console games based on the Pokémon series. It was first released in Japan on March 21, 1999, and was later released on July 26, 1999 in North America and September 14, 2000, in PAL regions. It was later released for the Wii's Virtual Console on December 4, 2007, in Japan, in North America on December 10, 2007, and then in PAL regions on The Virtual Console version features the ability to send pictures taken in the game to the Wii Message Board and send them to friends, whereas the Nintendo 64 version allowed players to take their games to either Blockbuster or Lawson in either North America or Japan and have pictures from their games printed. The game plays similarly to other first person games, viewing from the perspective of protagonist Todd Snap. The gameplay takes place on a rail, with Todd moving automatically. The objective of the game is to take pictures of Pokémon, using items such as apples and "pester balls" to achieve better shots. After each round, players are judged based on the quality of their screenshots.
It was originally announced as a Nintendo 64DD title, but was moved to the Nintendo 64 due to the 64DD's poor sales. Its release was promoted heavily by Nintendo, including being included in more than 86,000 hotels and a contest to send the winner toAustralia. By the end of 1999, Pokémon Snap sold 1.5 million copies, and was a strong rental title in 1999 after its release. It was met with mixed reception by critics, described as "addictive" by IGN and Boys' Life, and "innovative" by Electric Playground. It has also been compared to other video games with photography, such as AfrikaDead Rising, and Beyond Good & Evil. It has also been used as a notable example of video games with photography. However, the game's replay value has been criticized by all butAllgame, who found it to have its fair share of replay value. The reasons cited for its reportedly poor replay value are a lack of Pokémon and a lack of courses to play.

Prior to the events of the game, the Ocean King along with his servants, the Three Spirits, were attacked by a vicious creature named Bellum. Bellum sucked the life out of anyone who entered theTemple of the Ocean King. Bellum wanted the Ocean King's life force and sealed him in the Temple of the Ocean King and cursed the temple, so that should anyone enter the Temple of the Ocean King, their life would be drained from them. However, Safe Zones were left untouched by the curse, protecting those courageous enough to decend into the temple depths.
The Ocean King, quickly losing his power and feeling his life force fading away, magically cloned himself. Taking on the guise of Oshus, a wise human, he made his residence in a house on Mercay Island. Oshus also created thePhantom Hourglass filled with Sand of Hours so that he could enter the tower to maintain watch over Bellum from time to time until someone with the strength to defeat him arrived on Mercay Island. While maintaining the guise of Oshus, the Ocean King met Ciela, the spirit of time and courage. She had transformed herself into a fairy form to escape Bellum's wrath; however, her memory was lost and Oshus took care of Ciela, who came to call him "grandpa".
When Link is shipwrecked after Tetra is taken away by the Ghost Ship, he awakens on the beaches of Mercay Island, where he is awakened by Ciela. The two talk with Oshus about how to rescue Tetra from the Ghost Ship. Oshus tells Link that if he were to look for the Ghost Ship, he will never return. Later on, Oshus reveals the Phantom Hourglass to Link and also reveals Ciela's true identity as the Spirit of Courage. Aboard the Ghost Ship, Oshus reveals his true identity as the Ocean King and tells Link about Bellum.
After the final battle with Bellumbeck, the Sand of Hours helps free the Ocean King from the curse placed on him, allowing him to assume his true form once again. The Ocean King then tells Link and Tetra that their world will be free from the Bellum and its evils before fading away.

The objective of Harvest Moon 64 is to restore and maintain an abandoned farm left to the player by their grandfather. The player is initially given a set of tools to use in order to achieve this goal. Along with restoring the farm, there are a number of other side quests that the player may choose to partake in, including training and racing a horse, selling crops, participating in a variety of town festivals as well as random events, falling in love and getting married, collecting recipes, and collecting photographs from various achievements and events.
The player starts out with the bare minimum features for the farm: A small house, a shipping bin, a barn for sheep and cows, a coop for chickens, a silo, a shed, and farm land. Along the way, the player has the opportunity to upgrade tools, add extensions to the house, fill the barn and coop, and cover his farmland with flowers, grass, and crops. The local town, where most of the villagers spend their day, contains a church, a bar, a bakery, a town square, a flower shop, a library, a tool shop, among other things.
Unlike the original Harvest Moon for the SNES, there is a limited amount of time to work in any given day as well as a limited amount of stamina for work. Many game features, such as character locations and whether shops are open or closed, depends on what time and day it is. Each season lasts 30 days and has different weather patterns, crops to grow, and wild herbs available.

There are sixteen tracks that are based on different locations seen in Mario video games. Each track has a unique shape, containing various obstacles, hazards, and short-cuts.
Items are picked up by players when they drive through item boxes. Each item has an effect such as launching shells at opponents, consuming a mushroom to gain a temporary boost in speed, or placing bananas on the ground for opponents to later slip on. AI-controlled racers are able to use all the items except for red, green and blue shells.

Nintendo 64 emulator

N64 emulation is a particularly odd duck. The creator of the only emulator that is still being actively developed asks users for a $20 donation in return for their downloading any release newer than 2005; and many games played on it still don't look or sound anything like the real thing. Nevertheless, the N64 emulation process is actually much more straightforward than jerry-building a PlayStation or Saturn emulator--and it offers a few unique tricks of its own.
First, about that $20 donation: The developers of the preeminent N64 emulator, Project64,certainly deserve the money; but you can get by quite nicely with the last public release (v1.6). Unlike with other modern consoles, you don't have to track down a BIOS image, and the default video plug-in--which, somewhat adorably, boasts full DirectX8 compatibility--will be more than sufficient for 90 percent of users.

Project64 emulator: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Project64 playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Unlike many other emulators, Project64 has its own installer; but in other respects, the operational process is business as usual. Once you've installed the program, go to File, Choose ROM Directory to point it toward your games, and then tap F5 to refresh the main menu if you don't see the games in the list. Then double-click to start.
If you delve into the 'advanced settings' menu of Project64's video options, you should see an item labeled along the lines of 'override aspect'. Check the box next to this option, and if you're playing in any aspect ratio other than 4:3, the emulator will render the game in that aspect ratio without doing any stretching or cropping--and as a result, it will display more of the image than you ever saw on the original console (or for that matter, on the Wii's no-frills Virtual Console emulator).
This enlarged field of view is what I consider a magic emulation moment: No commercial publisher has ever offered any comparable enhancement, as far as I know, and yet this six-year-old emulator does it without batting an eye. The implementation isn't perfect--in some games, you can see the world geometry constantly being drawn and erased at the corners of your newly widened screen--but I'm willing to bet that if you've read this far, you probably find the program's rough-around-the-edges emulation more charming than disappointing.
